Obama proposes huge cuts in hydrogen fuel cell research

Truly devastating news for actress Jamie Lee Curtis and all the other fans of the super clean hydrogen fuel-cell boundless energy electric cars. Hydrogen is a zero pollution technology and in fact can boost oxygen in the atmosphere as part of the manufacturing process with so many cities now having substantial oxygen deficiency, it is a very good thing. Hydrogen can be made by the electrolysis of water using electricity from all sorts of sources, from windmills to solar cells. In fact the hydrogen from one windmill in Palm Springs has provided all the hydrogen needed to fuel four large size and double size hydrogen fuel-cell buses running throughout the desert of California. Hydrogen is extremely safe and in fact is not an explosive threat like gasoline or diesel is during a car accident.

The Obama administration has proposed cutting $100 million a year in hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle research at a time when Detroit automakers, GM and Chrysler, have little ability to fight back. They are too busy worrying about their own survival to mount a serious lobbying effort to restore the funds, although replacing their gas powered vehicles with electric engine hydrogen fuel cell cars would be supported by everyone. Hydrogen fuel cells are used in all electric vehicles which are vastly more powerful and fuel efficient then any internal combustion engine. Hydrogen fuel cells would allow a driver to fuel up very similarly to how we do today at a gasoline fuel station. This would illuminate the normally 2-8 hour recharge time that ordinary electric cars have and allow for unlimited driving ranges. The engines in electric powered cars are at least 3 times more efficient than internal combustion engines as most of the energy input into an internal combustion engine is lost in the form of heat during combustion. Electric engines also are vastly more powerful, potentially, than any internal combustion engine. Some of the most advanced electric engines today must be power-capped to prevent them from going 400 miles per hour or more.

A national martial plan on the order of Kennedy's mission to land a man on the moon could break us free of all imported energy, and shortly thereafter of all usage of fossil fuels and nuclear fission, clean our environment(imagine how wonderful LA would be if it had super clean air and water) and super charge our economy all at once. Our vehicle manufacturers would go from being in the red to selling out faster than they can produce. We could be off of all imported oil within as little as two years flat. Is the USA being held back by big oil and their bribed politicians? Call your congressperson and let them know you demand a massive well funded conversion to natural alternative energy and replacement of all new vehicles with hydrogen fuel cell and other battery powered alternatives.

The Obama Energy Department has slashed the research funding from its hydrogen fuel cell program for 2010 and is focusing instead on “fuel cell technologies” for buildings, according to recent reports. The department plans to spend $41.9 million last month to 12 companies working on portable fuel cells for electronics and larger fuel cells for both backup power and vehicles. Usage of hydrogen fuel cells to power office buildings and individual houses offers a great way to establish a multi-fuel source economy. As fuel-cells would be decentralized they would also serve to strengthen our country in the event of natural and man made disasters. President Obama stands head and shoulders above the rest if we should see an actualization of the promised changes we so desperately need as a nation. Stop the killing machine and redirect the funding to making our nation the best it can be from universal health care to complete super clean and natural energy independence.

Most recently, GM launched "Project Driveway," in which it put hydrogen fuel-cell Chevy Equinoxes in the hands of average consumers. At last report about a month ago, GM continues it's fuel cell research.

Both Honda and Hyundai maintain serious fuel-cell research programs. Honda is putting FCX Clarity fuel-cell cars in the hands of movie stars and few consumers as well to get them to test the technology. One early taker was Jamie Lee Curtis.
